Mark Hill: Poster Boy for National Antiques Week 2010

by Alison Jane Reid on October 27, 2010

We are delighted that Friend of the Ethical-Hedonist Mark Hill has been chosen as the face of National Antiques Week, 15th-21st November 2010, with the slogan Antiques Are Green.

Mark writes: “National Antiques Week aims to promote antiques, vintage and collecting. Over the past year, a growing number of young people have seen the value and individuality of antiques, and the thrill of the hunt, and begun to buy antiques and vintage pieces for their homes.  Furthermore, a report commissioned by the antiques trade from industry experts Carbon Clear has found that an antique chest of drawers is 16 times more eco-friendly than a modern, flatpack equivalent.  Antiques really are green!

Antiques are certainly green. We have a pub down here in Zennor called The Tinners Arms that has had the same benches and settles in the long bar for about 250 years now. I much prefer them to the varnished or laminated ‘cherry’ effect chairs in the town centre pub chains.
Now if only I could work out how to make my pint of ale last as long…

Alison – great interview with our very own poster boy Mark Hill who has worked tirelessly to help us with the National Antiques Week campaign this year.

Hope you can come and see us at Winter Olympia Fine Art and Antiques Fair, Mark will be there together with key members of our team.

I have forwarded a link to Nigel Worboys who is the http://www.antiquesaregreen.org founder
thanks so much, Gail
